Mount Sunapee to Open on Thursday, Nov. 29 for the 2018-19 Winter Season as the Northeast Resorts are Blanketed with New Snow

Newbury, N.H. – Nov. 26, 2018 – A combination of superlative snowmaking capabilities, favorable temperatures and above-average, early-season natural snowfall will allow Mount Sunapee to open for the 2018-19 skiing and snowboarding season on Thursday, Nov. 29.
 
Mount Sunapee is expecting to open with two top-to-bottom runs comprised of six trails and 36 acres of terrain serviced by one lift, the Sunapee Express. Hours of operation at Mount Sunapee are 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. midweek and 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. weekends.
 
“Snowmaking at Mount Sunapee has been going for 80 hours straight,” said General Manager Bruce Schmidt. “In addition, we have received more than two feet of natural snow in the past two weeks, so we are expecting a great start to the season.”
 
Beginning on Friday, Nov. 29, skiers and snowboarders can enjoy the following at Mount Sunapee, until additional lifts, trails, services and amenities open in the days and weeks to come:
  • The Sunapee Lodge.
  • Dining at Goosefeathers
  • Shopping at Mountain Outfitters
  • Sunapee Lodge ticket windows and Guest Services will be open
  • Opening Day On-Snow First-Chair celebration at the Sunapee Express.
 
In September, Mount Sunapee in New Hampshire, along with Okemo Mountain Resort in Vermont, joined Stowe as part of Vail Resorts’ Northeast region. In the past 48-hours Mount Sunapee received 17 inches of natural snowfall along with 21 inches in Stowe, Vt., and almost two feet at Okemo.
